Goodwill good finds!

I put myself on Goodwill punishment a couple of months ago. My garage looks like I just had a garage sale and I thought I might need to slow down a bit. But today I was driving by and the parking lot was packed so... I had to go and see what was going on! I found some goodies.
I mentioned I am working on storage for my studio I have great ideas in mind for these 2 containers and the rustic star is for my laundry room which I have yet to show you.
When I saw this tool box I squealed! I have been wanting to one of these. And that little thing in the front, I have got a really cool plan for it. I love to use boxes like this cigar box to lift things up. I can paint, decoupage it or leave it just like it is.
And these shelf brackets, how can I say no when they are only a dollar?
I love this little funky piece. It has some missing parts but for my plan that isn't going to matter.
That is a little surprise huh??? I can't wait to get started on it.
And then these great rustic baskets. I love this kind of baskets with real bark. I have plans for these in the spare bedroom. So I am glad I stopped. I only did 20.00 damage and got lots of great stuff! So have you found great things thrifting lately?

Unique storage solutions

My office is ALWAYS under some kind of construction or redo. I have way more junk than space and so anytime I think of a way to store something I go for it!

I found this little thinga-ma-jig at Goodwill for a buck. It was brassy gold and had a little star on top. (Imagine it, I can't find the before pic.) I think it was something to hang ornaments on for Christmas. I had other plans!!!
I gave it a coat of my favorite blue... Mediterranean made by Valspar from Lowes.  And then I took a couple of those large flat marbles and glued a piece of paper to the back and glued the 2 marbles together to cover up the gold star on the top. And now I have a place right at my finger tips to hang some stuff on my work space.
Why not use the wall space for some storage and it doubles as art! Handmade cards slid into a painted shutter, simple!
I purchased a dinner table at a garage sale for 20.00 to use as my work space. It's nice and big, but it's deeper than I need, so I put together one of the shelves for storing shoes and put it on my desk. Now I have 3 levels to put things on. You can pick these up for 10.00 at Walmart or Target.
And again more on the wall. These shelves came from Ikea. One of those things I could kick myself for not buying more of!
So how about you, are you always looking for fun ways to store things?

More beach decor

So I decorated one table top and decided I needed more beach! One can never have too much beach can they???
Isn't it dreamy, I just love these colors, they are my true colors!
Here is my other seashell ball, just placed it atop a planter.
And can you see the chippy paint and rust on these stars. Do you love rust???
Again, my cheap art work. Doesn't take much to get me excited.
Yep, these are my colors! Awww... how I would love to be there right now!

Beach or bust!

It is HOT!!! I live in North Texas and we are having record breaking temps and so when I say it's hot I mean it's hot! The other night I was out at 12:30 am and it was 93!!! Did I say it's hot? It is just miserable!!! So I have been looking for water, a lake, a stream, a beach, I WISH!!! I live about 12 hours from the coast and no time or plans to go. I thought a little beach decorating might help. If only....sigh...
Now everyday as I enter I reminded of the beach. :)
I made this beach sign last year and hung it above my buffet. You can check it out here and see how to make one yourself.
This jar sitting on and upside down candle stick has sand and treasures I found when I went to the beach last year.
I LOVE this little thing. I actually have a couple of them with different kinds of shells. I think I got them at Home Goods.

More treasures we have found on beaches. This fun piece of beach wood is one of my favorites, it looks like a birds head.
And a lampshade with a little added burlap ribbon.
And I moved my paper pinwheels to the entry table. They are playful and fill in the space nicely. So are you going to the beach this year? If not, how do you stay cool???
